Excellent impression from the edition of 72 signed proofs and 8 trial impressions.
Printed in blue, grey, pink, red, buff, brown and black inks.
The projected edition had been 150 impressions, but was never completed.

Special presentation proof dedicated by the artist “To Robert Austin from John Platt, 1928”. A proof aside from the projected edition of 100 signed proofs printed in sepia, grey and black inks (recorded edition 100 and a further 20 numbered with Roman numerals).

John Edgar Platt was one of the British printmakers who turned to the traditional Japanese methods of colour wood block printing just prior to the 1920’s. J.E.Platt was a key exhibitor at the Colour Woodcut Society from its foundation in 1920 and in 1922 he was awarded the Gold Medal at the International Exhibition in Los Angeles (organized by the Society of California Printmakers) for a colour woodcut which was judged to be the best print in any medium.
