Original Katherine Cameron etching and drypoint.
Excellent impression from the only edition of 50 signed proofs.
One of her most elaborate etched plates, L’Auberge is an outstanding example of Katherine Cameron’s mature work as an etcher. Katherine Cameron only began to pursue original etching in earnest from around 1911 onwards and although she is best known for her highly stylised studies of flowers, she also produced some outstanding topographical works such as this view of an inn at Bayeux. The remarkable variety of textures and the interplay of light and shade which Katherine Cameron has achieved in this highly accomplished work show her skills as an etcher to the full.
On cream wove paper with full margins and deckle edge. Very fine original condition. |
