Original Marius Bauer etching.
Very strong impression with pronounced etched line, printed with considerable plate tone. From the only edition of 100 signed proofs.
Cavalry is a wonderful example of the freely drawn etchings which originated from Marius Bauer’s first trip to the orient. The highly distinctive sketchy style which Marius Bauer originated for these beautifully observed views still appears modern in its nature and was well ahead of its time.
The style of etched line produced by this early zinc plate differs markedly from that produced by the copper plates which Marius Bauer used for his later etchings.
On cream laid paper, with full margins and deckle edge. Generally very good condition. |
