Very good, strong impression, printed in very dark brown ink with plate tone. Signed proof, as issued in the North Italian Set (1894-1896), published by W.B. Paterson, Glasgow, 1896. Scarce.
One of the very few etchings in the North Italian Set which could be regarded as a typical Cameron landscape, Landscape with Trees was the twenty-sixth and last subject to be included in the what is often regarded as D.Y. Cameron’s finest published series of etchings. Only about 25 sets of this series were printed, although the artist is known to have pulled a very few separate impressions.
On coarse simile Japan paper with natural uneven weave, with full margins. Very good condition. |
