Very good impression, as published for the edition issued by The Studio in 1896 and with their blindstamp in the lower margin of the sheet.
Drawn by Whistler in the early months of 1896, this atmospheric sketch was taken from a balcony of the Savoy Hotel in London, where Whistler and his wife made a prolonged stay during her serious illness. The view shows the Thames with Hungerford railway bridge, looking towards Westminster.
On cream laid paper, with margins as issued. Very fine condition. |
